Twice he squandered mercurial salts,
that foolish, bilious dunderhead.
In his quest to mend his gaping faults
he forgot the miraculous life he led.

If she had never emerged-
that lovely, willowy, wise mermaid
(wrapped in seaweed, she upsurged)-
who knows what other mistakes he'd have made.
